In the heart of Covent Garden, J Sheekey is a fish and seafood restaurant offering the finest fish, oysters, shellfish and other fruits de mer.

This month, yet more change at Sheekey’s – an extended oyster bar now features an open kitchen and cosy banquette seating, as well as the signature horseshoe-shaped bar. J Sheekey Oyster Bar is a hidden gem that is worth discovering. Also available for private hire and includes a chef’s table for up to 18 people.

Discreetly tucked away on St Martin’s Court between Charing Cross Road and St Martin’s Lane, J Sheekey is a stone’s throw from many of the West End’s theatres, the cinemas of Leicester Square and vibrant quarters of Covent Garden and Soho. The Royal Opera House and Coliseum, Palace Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, Wyndham's, Duke of York and Noel Coward Theatres are close by, making the restaurant perfect for pre and post theatre dining.

J Sheekey’s illustrious 100-year heritage was further enhanced in 2008 by the opening of the Oyster Bar next door. Following its success, a new dimension was added in October 2012. Spreading eastwards on St Martin’s Court, the Oyster Bar has added 9 tables to its existing layout and horse-shoe shaped crustacea bar.

Alison Jackson’s photographic portraits of 21st century theatrical luminaries from John Hurt and Eileen Atkins to Orlando Bloom and Rosamund Pike adorn the walls, as well as one area dedicated to theatrically-themed caricatures from the 1930s, curated by The Cartoon Museum. The Oyster Bar is ideally located between Leicester Square and Covent Garden, in the heart of theatre land, so that people can pop in to refuel before or after a visit to the galleries on Trafalgar Square, the cinemas on Leicester Square or the theatres in the area.

The oyster bar is open all day from noon till midnight Monday to Saturday and until 11pm on Sunday, and as it is not essential to book ahead, popping into the informal setting of the J Sheekey Oyster Bar is a comfortable and easy dining option.
